Greetings, adventurers! ⚔️
The Sixth Gathering of Nerds is a mere three months away, and all of us are in high gear (and spirits!) in making preparations. One of the best parts about a Gathering is the gaming, and one of our favorite things is hosting them. Here is everything you need to know about signing up for a game at NFG6!
This year, we will have full access to the campgrounds and this time we will have an actual gaming hall! All gaming will take place in the Main Hall over by the parking area. There will be plenty of tables set up, plus food and drink available for purchase and let’s be real- it’s a camping event, so if you want to bring your own snacks you’re more than welcome to! There will also be a fast travel system, so when you want to go back and forth between the gaming hall and the main festivities and camping it’ll be a breeze.
Now, let’s talk about how to get a game set up. The first step is to make sure you are in the NorseForged community discord. Here's the invite. Or the link is on the main website page under “Community”, here - https://www.norseforgedgathering.com. Once you join, you can ask questions in the #gatherings thread or say whatever’s on your mind in #general-fuckery.
Once you're in the Discord, keep an eye out for the #TTRPG channel where players and Game Masters can begin organizing sessions. If you're a GM looking to run a game, you can post your idea, what system you're running, how many players you're looking for, and when you'd like to play. Whether you're planning a full campaign session, a one-shot adventure, or something completely experimental, the Gathering is the perfect place to try it out.
For players looking to jump into a game, the process is just as simple. Watch for open seats in posted games, introduce yourself, and claim a spot before the party fills up. Many of our sessions fill quickly, so it’s always a good idea to keep an eye on the Discord leading up to the event. Here's the SignUp Genius sign up page for NFG6.
The Gaming Hall at NFG6 will be alive with adventure from morning until night, with dice rolling and stories unfolding all weekend long. Expect a wide range of tabletop experiences, from classic Dungeons & Dragons campaigns and indie tabletop RPGs to strategic board games and card battles like Magic: The Gathering, along with spontaneous pick-up games that form as new allies gather around the table. If you're bringing your own gear, feel free to pack your dice, miniatures, maps, or favorite deck of cards, as many tables quickly become hubs of creativity where players share games, snacks, and ideas throughout the day. And if you’re new to tabletop gaming, don’t worry—the NorseForged community is incredibly welcoming, and there will always be Game Masters ready to guide new adventurers through their very first quest.
So whether you're a seasoned Game Master, a veteran dice goblin, or someone who's always wanted to try a tabletop RPG for the first time, the Gaming Hall at NFG6 is ready for you.
Leading the charge in the Gaming Hall this year is Sean, owner of Apollo’s Gaming Table, who many at the Gathering will know as Indiana “The Librarian” Jones. Sean will be serving as the Gathering Dungeon Master, helping oversee the Epic Adventure within the Gaming Hall and organizing tabletop sessions throughout the weekend. With nearly a decade of experience both as a player and Game Master, Sean brings a deep passion for Dungeons & Dragons and tabletop gaming to the Gathering. Through Apollo’s Gaming Table, he focuses on creating epic adventures for veteran players while also helping new adventurers learn the ropes and discover the magic of tabletop RPGs. Sean first joined the NorseForged community at NFG3 and hasn’t missed a Gathering since, even running games at NFG Legacy last November. If you’re looking to join a party, roll some dice, and set out on quests of epic proportions, Sean will be there to help guide the adventure.
